Nice first time cruise!
by Sheree W. from Boston MA
Sailing date:
Sep 2012
Pros:
variety of activities
Cons:
extra expenses(special dining,cocktails)
This was a first time cruise and I was impressed with the Norwegian Dawn. There was more room than i ever expected in the mini suite with balcony! I was a little disappointed that there were limited jacuzzis available(always crowed) and the sun deck (quiet area) was not enforced..and many passengers were partying it up. But i think that was due in part to the fact that the cruise was threatened by a hurricane and our arrival was delayed by one day, so everyone was just so happy to be able to see Bermuda.

I thought the layout was nice once I found my way around...it was easy to get confused with direction.
Dining/Food
Overall the food was good..was surprised at having to pay for specialty dining option. After having vacationed at many all inclusives for the price to the cruise i think the dining in any restaurant should have been included.
Stateroom Quality
The mini suite w/balcony was very nice and had great storage and ample room. It did not feel claustrophobic which i was fearing. So overall it was very nice and clean.
Ship Staff Quality
The staff was great!!! Always very friendly and cheerful.
Entertainment & Activities
Great variety of activities all day. The shows were very good!

Staff made it a worthwhile cruise
by Chris S from Boston, MA
Sailing date:
Apr 2012
Pros:
Quick embarkation, Wonderful Shows, Very Friendly Staff
Cons:
Room Service, Small choice of food items, Charging for Pizza and delivery after midnight
Although we were not pleased with some of the things NCL does, overall, we did have a nice cruise. Check in was the quickest and easiest we had ever experienced! The staff were very kind and the rooms were much nicer than Carnival; they had refrigerators. The shows were incredible...especially Bollywood! The staff weren't always trying to push you to buy drinks or take pictures...this was a nice part of freestyle cruising. NCL needs to give their customers better choices of food...not very good variety, especially with desserts. Those taking calls for room service were very short and abrupt and we didn't like the 3.95 charge after midnight. Carnival doesn't have that and they offer free pizza; here at NCL, you had to pay 5.00 The Captain needed to keep the people more updated on weather conditions. We didn't like how everything was always shut down; you had a small window of opportunity to get your food and there was no midnight buffet like Carnival. With the problems, the cruise was still worthwhile and going to Bermuda was beautiful; we are looking forward to going there again and would go with NCL.

Dining/Food
Need much more variety of choices. We didn't like how everything was always shut down; you had a small window of opportunity to get your food and there was no midnight buffet like Carnival. The charge after midnight for room service was insulting and there was a charge to get pizza..... If NCL rectified these problems, they would be on top!

Excellent!!!!!!! Much better than Carnival!
Entertainment & Activities
The best entertainment! Much better than Carnival and we loved the final show with the staff The performers being out there meeting and greeting people was so personable and approachable! MUCH BETTER INTERACTIONS AND SHOWS THAN CARNIVAL!

Excellent experience

Pros:
Entertainment, service, activities, Dining, Bermuda
Sailed September 16, 2011 to Bermuda from Boston. This was my first cruise and my boyfriend's second (Royal Carribean was the first) I'm 22 and he i 29 and we loved everything about this cruise. We had a room with an "obstructed" ocean view, which was a porthole and it was nice, however didn't spend much time in room other than sleeping. The ship staff was fun and entertaining and got everyone involved. The shows were excellent we went to all of them, Bollywood WOW!, comedian's very funny, Second City was awesome and the late night show they did was great too (adults only). We also went to most of the comedy game shows and participated in a few. We ate at Aqua the first night, food was good, no complaints. The rest of the nights we ate at the Venetian and it was fantastic. We did not go to any specialty restaurants because the Venetian was just so good. Breakfast we just did the buffet which had plenty to offer and made to order omelets. Lunch pool side bbq and on the island we packed a lunch, just not allowed to bring fruit or vegetables so we brought pizza and sandwiches. In Bermuda we bought a 3 day bus pass for $28 dollars and it took you anywhere and you could ride the ferry too. Public transportation is very efficient and affordable. We brought our own snorkeling stuff with us on the island and just went to different beaches and bays. We went to Coral beach , beautiful waters waves and not good snorkeling, went to tobacco bay and saw amazing things snorkeling, and horseshoe bay was also nice for both and a few others that were parks. Shopped a bit in Hamilton, we aren't huge shoppers but saw a few neat shops. Total worth every penny loved everything about this cruise. Would highly recommend to anyone.

Enjoyable Cruise
by A Traveler from North Carolina
Sailing date:
Nov 2010
Pros:
Island Selection
Cons:
Add On Charges
Great vessel. Service good, but not at standards of higher priced cruise lines. The ship arrived at several ports late, yet there was no extension of shore time. The programmed music selections piped into many areas,as well as, selections played prior to stage shows definitely not considerate of the average population age aboard the ship.
